About Sensei Brandon
Growing up in Albany, NY I began my karate journey at the age of 5. I took my first international trip at the age of 9 to Budapest, Hungary where I competed at the Junior World Championships. I trained super hard and I knew I was ready to win that gold medal. There was over 100 kids in my kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) division. I was nervous but I was confident. What happened next? I lost my first round of kata and kumite. Eventhough I lost, I had tried my best and that did not stop me from training even harder.
At the age of 14 I went to Darmstadt, Germany to compete at the Junior World Championships and I won 2nd place in kumite and 3rd place in team Ippon kumite. I was excited because all of the hard training had paid off. I knew that I could eventually become a World Champion and that was my goal for the next championships.
The time came when I was invited to represent the USA at the World Championship in Hanover, Germany. Guess what? I WON!!! I became Junior World Champion in Ippon Kumite at the age of 16.
Winning 1st place in Kata at AAU Karate Nationals
Winning another year at AAU Karate Nationals in Kata.
Competing is not the only thing I am passionate about. I love to teach and give back to others so they can become better, whether that is in karate, fitness, or their everyday life. I became national coach for students at the age of 15 which then led me to become a national referee.
Fitness has also, been a part of my life since in an early age. Fitness training has always been important to me. Training the physical body and the mental aspect as well. I started offering personal training sessions at my dojo to individuals which was a success. Til this day I am still teaching and giving knowledge in karate and fitness to hundreds of people around the world.
